EU funded Capacity4Rail Project Workshop & Training in Olomouc
The OLTIS Group Company hosted partners of CAPACITY4RAIL project in its Headquarters in Olomouc on 27- 28 April 2017.
CAPACITY4RAIL is a project of the European Union´s 7th Framework Programme for research, technological development and demonstration. The project´s budget is 15 million euros and has brought together in an ambitious partnership 46 stakeholders from 13 European countries and Turkey.
The workshop held in Olomouc was attended by project participants from 9 European countries represented 17 different organizations from Industry, Railway Undertakings, Infrastructure Managers and Academic Sciences. It was focused on planning & management of railway operations towards an affordable, resilient, innovative and high capacity European Railway System for 2030/2050.
The first day of the workshop, moderated by Egidio Quaglietta (Network Rail), was dedicated to the following topics: an overview on operations for enhanced capacity, an automated tool to assess railway capabilities, optimal strategies to manage major disturbances, simulation and models to support planning and management of railway traffic for improving capacity and ubiquitous data for railway operations. It offered an excellent opportunity to discuss the latest developments in advanced tools for railway planning, simulation of railway operations, railway traffic management and innovative data architectures to enable the digitalization of railway systems.
The second day of the workshop on 28 April was devoted to the technical visits to the Traffic Control Centre Přerov and to the Railway Museum Olomouc.
